This month vietnamese communities around the world including here in the bay area will mark the Lunar New Year with a celebration called tet. In 1968, tet took on another meaning as forces from North Vietnam took advantage of a seize fire to spring surprise attacks. It became known as the tet offensive. The coordinated attack resulted in heavy military losses for the north but gave them a huge psychological victory beginning a shift in Public Opinion here in the United States against the war.
