Of the 18 positions on the council governing Parramattaâs 190-year-old Kings School, just one is held by a woman - former Abbotsleigh deputy head Rosemary Abrahams. At Trinity Grammar, another Anglican boysâ school, there are only two women among the 18 governors, and at Sydney Church of England Grammar (or Shore) there are four.
Kings, Shore, Trinity and other schools are under pressure to show leadership on gender issues amid concerns about privilege and toxic masculinity at boys-only schools and the influence that has on studentsâ attitudes and behaviour.
