A bunch of local songwriters and musicians are teaming up for a regional Victorian tour celebrating the art of songwriting and the people who do it well. Titled
Sing a Song of Sixpence, the tour will visit 14 iconic Victorian towns throughout August.

This amazingly talented group of performers, accompanied by a live band, will perform songs from beloved ALW worldwide hits from Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, Starlight Express, Song & Dance, Sunset Boulevard and even a few rarities. This weekend marks 50 years since the television premiere of Young Talent Time a pastel-coloured, saccharine-sweet mix of talent competition, pop music tribute show and star factory.
Accordingly, the National Film and Sound Archive (NSFA) has curated a digital tribute to the program that is in turns nostalgic and cringe-worthy. There is also a 50th anniversary stage show in the works.
Young Talent Time (YTT) first aired April 24, 1971 and ran for 18 years. It was launched at a time when music television was still dominated by local performers doing covers of (or even just lip synching) hits from the American and British hit parades.
Dion Hirini GoFundMe Campaign Set Up To Pay For Funeral Expenses
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help pay for the funeral expenses for Melbourne guitarist Dion Hirini, who passed away on Friday (12 March 2021).
Dion, who has also played for Vika & Linda, was considered “the third Bull sister”. In a social media post Vika & Linda wrote,
“Today we lost our brother Dion.
“We always called him the third Bull Sister and our hearts are broken. Thank you for so many beautiful moments we spent together”.
Dion also played with Tina Arena, Paul Kelly and was touring with Debra Byrne.
