Much as weve accomplished in 36 years i dont want to look back at that so much as to look forward to the next couple of months. In the next couple of months theres a couple of things i would like to do. One is to get my Defense Authorization bill passed. This is an annual effort, a major effort involving large amounts of staff. I would also want to finish up some work on the permanent subcommittee on investigations, looking at some gimmicks which are used to avoid taxes. Ive been a member of congress for 34 years and, you know, to finally get beat, if i was a manager for a baseball or Football Team and i had a 341 i would be in the hall of fame. So it doesnt bother me. Really it done bother me to get beat because i wasnt set on going but i had 18 cochairmen who were chairmen in my district that sup
Continuing resolution referred to as krom any bus strategy which keeps the government operating until mid february. The reason, obviously because republicans will have control of the house and senate next year . There is talk of that. So it is varying degreeses. The basic premise of that is that many of the republicans and some of the republicans in congress, realizing they will control both chambers starting on january 3rd. Are wondering why democratic majority leaders soon to be minority leader harry reid and other democrats would have such a say on a bill spending them until last so that notion is that lets do another temporary one and then the new republican dominated senate and house could come up with a spending bill after that. But Republican Leaders kind of want to wipe the slate clean and are preferring a measure that could be done now that could get congress through the whole entire next fiscal year without having to readdress it in the spring. Reserves so they can make a cash investment in a Capital Infrastructure to build a city hall or to do Something Like that and also to keep the bond rating agencies happy, to demonstrate that they are good stewards of the fiscal resources. So if you noticed the trend over time, it was much less than what we are now at about 22 of expenditures. Some 25 or 30 years ago it was much less. What cities have done over the last 25 and 30 years is theyve realized several things. One, that you cant predict the future as we all witnessed this last winter when salt reserves for at least the northern cities and some southern as well ran out very early and they had to dig into their reserves to buy more salt and snowplowing services. So preparing for these unexpected emergencies is one of the reasons that the reserves tend to grow over time. The other is that between the time that we started monitoring ending balances in the general fund to the present is that the federal government has become a much

What we discovered quickly is how many of the bside songs were directly related to the civil rights movement. Since theres very few data bases and none of them are complete on all gospel music, didnt know that. We didnt know the sheer number of songs that had very overt songs like there aint no segregation in heaven type songs, at a time when possessing one of those songs, much less singing it was a very dangerous thing in the deep south. You could get killed for a lot of things in the deep south, but singing that sort of song outloud, well, thats a risk. The texas ranger hall of fame, it was set up in 1976 for the 175th anniversary of the rangers. And honors at this point 30 rangers who made major contributions to the service or gave their lives under heroic circumstances. We have paintings or portraits of all of those rangers. Officials that i have met with have told me that theyre doing a really good job resettling these people, but i dont think theyre really keeping track of where theyre resettling them. Were not getting any finances, were getting reassurances that feel more like pats on the head that are like just go about your business, and in fact i have talked about the numbers, unaccompany aed minors that have been resettled here in the city of lynne. Once they get resettled and theyre claimed by a sponsor, those sponsors can be illegal themselves. But those sponsors then become conferred with the type of protected status because they are obligated to have control over that unaccompaniy eied min until their status hearing dated, those status hearing date where is being pushed back to 2017 righ
