As the world looks at fashion a different way, beauty pageants are slowly changing too. No longer are they all about women strutting on stage in ballgowns or bikinis – or at least, that is the hope.
The focus on contestants is shifting. It’s not just on outward appearances; what holds weight is their personality and brilliant mind. Of course, let’s not forget the passion they have for changing the world and making it a better place.

There is a huge misconception that refugees are a scary bunch, mainly due to the lack of awareness from the general public. This is why Deborah Henry has been using her voice and star power to shine the spotlight on these communities.
Since being crowned Miss Malaysia World in 2007 and Miss Universe Malaysia in 2011, the beauty queen has been focusing her energy on her humanitarian work. She was shooting an in-house documentary about refugees in Malaysia for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2008 when she realised the difficult conditions they were living in.

LOCATED 10 minutes from the centre of Canberra, the development of Woden began in 1962, a year before its first residents arrived in 1963.
Planned as a series of 10 suburbs (thereâs now 12), Hughes, Curtin, Chifley and Lyons were among the first built.
At the time it was estimated that 90,000 people would eventually live in the area but by 2016 the population had only reached 34,760, according to the census.
Separate from Civic, Woden Valley was planned as a satellite city, with its own shopping centre, employment opportunities and suburbs located around the town centre in Woden.
