GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS A 41-year-old mother of eight was formally charged with two counts of entering into a fraudulent marriage on Friday, according to a statement by the Department of Immigration.
The department’s Prosecution Unit, Grand Bahama District, brought Nadacate Outten and two co-accused foreign nationals, Jamaican Oral Anthony White, and Haitian Moseles Monneus, before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson.
Outten pleaded guilty to her charges with an explanation: she said she was “down on her luck” and needed the funds offered in exchange for both marriages and subsequent grant of legal status to care for her children.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS One Dominican, one Jamaican and eight Haitian nationals were recently brought before the courts on New Providence and Grand Bahama by the Department of Immigration.
On Thursday, April 22, Yonaidi Melendez Castillo of the Dominican Republic appeared before Magistrate Jeanine Weech-Gomez in the Magistrate’s Court #7 and pleaded guilty to overstaying. She was subsequently ordered to be turned over to the Department of Immigration for deportation at the expense of her employers.
On Friday, April 23, Celibon Cedie, Lens Petit and Jeff Dutrevil, all of Haiti, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney in the Magistrates’ Court #1 and all pleaded guilty to overstaying.
NASSAU| Just days after he was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with two counts of attempted child stealing, accused predator Justin Seymour, 24, returned to a Grand Bahama court on Friday morning to face another charge of attempted child stealing.
Police say the third charge stems from a third incident involving a child on Friday, January 8, 2021. The circumstances surrounding this latest incident is unclear. However, police said on Wednesday, January 6, Seymour attempted to lure a little girl from Walter Parker Primary School into his Chevy Cavalier.
His plan failed so on Thursday, Friday, January 7, Seymour attempted to lure a little girl from Maurice Moore Primary School into his vehicle. The little girl started to follow him to his vehicle but the school’s crossing guard became suspicious and stopped the little girl after he discovered she did not know the man.
Four men were charged with drug possession in the Freeport Magistrate s Court on Thursday.
Kisnell George, 39; Collin Bain, 48; both of Eight Mile Rock, were charged with possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply, and Levi Missick, 36, of EMR, was charged with possession of dangerous drugs.
They appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Court 1. The trio pleaded guilty to the charge and were fined $850 or six months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
Joshua Oliver, of Grenada Avenue, Freeport, pleaded not guilty to possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply and was granted $1,500 bail with one suretor.
