A new program in memory of a fallen Mount Holly Police officer will help build bridges between officers and civilians for years to come.
Micha Autry – a nurse at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center – was grieving with her fellow Mount Holly residents following the shooting death of Officer Tyler Herndon in December 2020 when she read about large-scale adopt-an-officer programs across the U.S.
Generally the programs connect law enforcement officers and first responders to families, who will support and thank their officer for their service with gifts cards, money and other gifts.
Autry – the mother of a firefighter and cousin of a police officer – thought a smaller, localized program could benefit the Mount Holly area.
