Cathy Riddington, Sandra Jowett, Alyson Phillips, Debbie Fox, Lydia Jutton and a 12-year- old toy poodle called Rupert completed their 1,460 mile walk at Solomon’s Temple after 13 weeks, having set out in January to help the Buxton and High Peak Samaritans.
Aptly named the ‘Rambling Readers’, the local book club set themselves the challenge as a way to keep themselves busy during the winter lockdown while supporting a charity close to their hearts, and have been putting in the miles in the countryside around the town.
Cathy said: “What started as a daunting challenge turned into a joyful experience. Fantastic support from the Samaritans and all our friends, families and local businesses has kept us going on our walks whatever the weather. We’ve been absolutely blown away by the comments and kindness we’ve received.

Malcolm Maycock of the Licence Bureau and Steve Roper of the Prudential have been added to the Risk, Compliance and Health Committee.
Matt Dale of ALD and Debbie Fox of epyx are now part of the Future Mobility Steering Committee, while Alex Hull of Zenith and Natasha Patel of Baringa have joined the Future Roads Committee.

Debbie Fox, commercial director at the motor industry e-commerce specialist Epyx, says she has seen much increased interest in digitalisation of fleet activities, as more people are working remotely and there is a greater demand for services that can be accessed online.
“What probably hasn’t been discussed as much,” she explained, “has been something that we are definitely hearing in our conversations with new and existing customers, that there is an increasing awareness of what can be achieved through thinking about digitalisation in a joined-up, cross-platform sense, rather than it running in parallel lanes.
