20 years or so. so, i wouldn t use biden as a bellwether. but i would use any president of the united states, given that information, would have done the same thing but i give great credit to the president. the point is though, do you use that in political campaigns to attack your opponent? mitt romney would have done the exact same thing. i am confident. and any leader would have. so, to say that mitt romney wouldn t have, i mean, is politicizing what an event that all americans applauded enormously. okay. i want to bring you back when you have some time in the next couple of weeks. you know better than everyone what it is like to go up against the obama re-election people. i mean, you went through it i think the debates are going to tell the tale between romney and the president. would you have any advice for romney right now in a debate situation? would there be anything that you would tell him to do that perhaps you did not do? i think hold the president
debate situation. back your guy walter mondale in 84 talking about gary heart he said where s the gary hart he said where is the beef line. i was a teenager and i remember to this day. isn t there a opportunity for governor romney perhaps if he were to go out there and really score some points? perhaps. i have to tell you the where s the beef was scripted. i remember lloyd bentsen and i was sitting there with i knew jack kennedy, i knew that was coming. the danger for romney is he does come across as scripted. when he goes off-the-cuff, he makes mistakes. if he is standing between santorum and gingrich, the danger for him is they are both going to be aiming the fingers in his direction. maybe he s got no choice at this point but to try to ignite the republican base. but, it is also a big risk,
