OGUNQUIT, Maine Patriotic costumes were plentiful Sunday, April 18, in a pageant hosted by the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce, and they were all worn by dogs. Gingersnap, a 15-year-old toy poodle, was declared the winner of the Patriotic Pooch Pageant and Meet Miss Maine, an annual event to celebrate Patriot s Day. She is American Woman, still going strong, said Gingersnap s mom Elizabeth Ford of Ogunquit. For winning, Gingersnap got a basket of goodies, and her owner received an Ogunquit gift certificate, valid for most shops in town.  This year s event was part of Ogunquit s two-weekend Splash Into Spring series, a modified take on the town s traditional Patriot s Day celebration.
