Prepare the night before. The last day of school is always an exciting time for students. They’ll come home ready to begin a fun summer. But it’s a good idea to take care of emptying bookbags first. To get ready, clear off the kitchen table the night before so the kids have enough room to empty their book bags right when they come home. This task goes pretty quickly and you may be surprised what you find.
• Turn on the lights and open the blinds so you can see the furniture in the best light possible.
• Vacuum the tops of the cushions and the entire couch and chair.
• Then remove cushions, if possible, and vacuum every nook and cranny.
The last time I did this task, I found monopoly money, hair ties, a marble and $1.76. I do this task quarterly, so you may find even better things and more money if it has been a while since you lifted up your couch cushions.
