Cherokee Nation, OSU Make History With Launch Of New Medical School The Cherokee Nation and Oklahoma State University made history Friday, opening the first tribally affiliated medical school in the United States. Medical students from across the nation can now train in the new College of Osteopathic Medicine, paid for by the Cherokee Nation and run by OSU. News On 6 s Amelia Mugavero has the story. On Friday, leaders cut the ribbon to officially open the 84,000 square foot OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at Cherokee Nation medical school campus in Tahlequah. It’s the first tribally affiliated medical school on tribal land in the United States.
