Council flies the flag in Malvern for Commonwealth Day 2021

FLAG: Chairman Cllr Dean Clarke and PA Nicky Stevens with the Commonwealth Flag last year (pre-covid) THE Commonwealth Flag has been raised by Malvern Hills District Council to mark Commonwealth Day 2021. Commonwealth Day is held on the second Monday in March each year and is an opportunity for individuals, communities and organisations to promote the values that the Commonwealth stands for. The flag, which was raised above the Council House, is one of 1,000 Commonwealth Flags flown in countries around the world as a celebration of the organisation s values of peace, democracy and equality. The theme this year is centred around the same theme as last year which is: ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming’.

Kelowna resident Barbara Samuel is one of those artists. She s a minister, lead singer of Sista B & The Boyz, actor and teaches singing. With the restrictions in place, Samuel is still teaching socially-distanced vocal lessons but had two performances that were sold out that have been pushed back until 2022 and 2023. Also, she s an actor in Ghost with the Kelowna Actors Studios, and that performance has been rescheduled for October, which is the third time it has been pushed back, she said.
