LONDON CALLING was the choice of song as Darlington left the pitch on Saturday evening after easing into the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy with arguably their best performance of the season. It’s realistic to wonder if Quakers can mark the ten-year anniversary of their 2011 triumph with a Wembley return having outclassed Wealdstone, leaving Darlington two games from a potential final. The quarter-final draw takes place tomorrow, with the last-eight ties to be played on February 27 - if at all. Uncertainty and confusion abound over what will happen, with Darlington among those to have voted for the National League North campaign to be declared null and void.

Darlington host National League side Wealdstone at Blackwell Meadows in the fifth round of the FA Trophy this afternoon DARLINGTON manager Alun Armstrong didn’t have to go far for an insight into his team’s Buildbase FA Trophy opponents Wealdstone, who visit Blackwell Meadows today in the last 16 of the competition. His son, Luke, played a starring role when Hartlepool played Wealdstone in the National League last month, scoring the first goal in a 3-1 win, to ensure that Wealdstone’s worries of relegation back to National League South continued. “I’ve had a chat with our Luke about them, and he’s given me one or two ideas,” said the Quakers boss. “I watched that game myself. Hartlepool started like a house on fire and could have been 5-0 up, but Wealdstone made a couple of subs and got back into the game. They got back to 3-1, then hit the post, and could have snatched a draw.
Former Dundee captain Josh Meekings signs for National League club

Former Dundee skipper Josh Meekings has signed for National League Wealdstone seven months after leaving Dens Park.
The 28-year-old departed the Dark Blues last summer after turning down a contract extension following three years at the club.
Signed by Neil McCann at Dens the Scottish Cup winner with Inverness played 53 times for Dundee, taking on the captain’s armband during a time that was beset by injury.
Now he will aim to help last season’s National League South winners Wealdstone improve their current 15th position in English football’s fifth tier after recently training with League Two Leyton Orient.
