Delhi logs record 448 Covid-19 deaths on Monday

Cumulative positivity rate moves further up to 6.99 per cent The national capital Delhi’s Covid-19 daily death toll continues to be a picture of worry, with Monday’s count coming in at 448 deaths, the highest ever so far since the pandemic outbreak last year. Monday marked the third consecutive day when the daily Covid-19 death toll surpassed the 400-mark.
New infections in the last 24 hours to Monday stood at 18,043, lower than 20,394 recorded in the previous day. The number of tests conducted on Monday stood at 61,045, the latest Delhi State Health Bulletin released on Monday night showed.
Ghaziabad: Covid-19 figures in the district have shown a steep rise in April, especially positivity rate near 6% now. Meanwhile, the recovery rate in Ghaziabad has come down to around 80%.
The district has reported 36 deaths in the past seven days alone, taking the fatality rate to 0.39%. The Covid-19 positivity rate for April stands at 5.97%, against an overall positivity rate of 3.93% in Ghaziabad. The recovery rate has fallen to 82.8%, a number that was averaging around 97% last month.
“The positivity rate, which was less than 1% in February and March, has increased manifold in April. The number has increased 8.7 times since Marchand nearly 20 times the figure in February,” said an official from the health department.
