POLK COUNTY, Fla. A deadly crash involving a person walking in Polk County shut down all eastbound lanes of I-4 Thursday morning for several hours.
Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened just before Champions Gate Boulevard shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday.
A 27-year-old man was walking across the interstate for unknown reasons when investigators say he was hit by a tractor-trailer. Troopers add the man was likely struck by other vehicles after the tractor-trailer and died at the scene.
Eastbound lanes of I-4 reopened around 9:40 a.m. but drivers will still need to look out for investigators in the right shoulder.
