Eastern Cape premier Oscar Mabuyane and transport, safety & liaison MEC Xolile Nqatha on Wednesday objected to the Dispatch’s story which said “the Eastern Cape is the most dangerous place to live in SA.” The Dispatch article referred to the fact, confirmed by national and provincial authorities and released in police minister Bheki Cele’s national statistics, which showed that the Eastern Cape has the highest per capita [in relation to population numbers] murder rate in the country.
