If it were up to Triangle Access Broadcasting, one of two new noncommercial FM stations licensed to a large Nebraska radio ministry bringing Worship Music to the state wouldn't come to fruition. But, the decision maker is the FCC, and they say it is OK for the application they're disputing to win approval.
The NAB and the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the association for broadcast and multimedia technology professionals, on Monday announced a joint memorandum of understanding with the Department of Defense to allow non-exclusive access to commercial spectrum at 2025-2110 MHz at 26 U.S. military sites.
In late May, the Orono, Me., TV station offering PBS programming to the community and its surrounding region has asked the FCC for a swap of its VHF signal for a more powerful UHF facility. This came concurrent to a near-identical request from its Augusta, Me., sibling. The upgrades for the Maine Public properties are coming soon.
Given all of the differences of opinion between the Democratic FCC decision-makers and the NAB on topics such as broadcast ownership deregulation, there was certainly the possibility of an acrimonious moment or two during Tuesday's Fireside Chat with Jessica Rosenworcel. Not so, as association head Curtis LeGeyt kept it light and jovial.
