After earning half of their all-time number of playoff berths in the last three seasons, the Cushing Bearkats continued to improve their football program in 2020. And their postseason honors indicate that message.
With 18 All-District 11-2A DII selections released recently, itâs a solid indicator that the program is headed in the right direction.
Cushing third-year head coach Josh Moore, who has led the program to a pair of playoff berths, was named the 11-2A DII Co-Coach of the Year and senior two-way starter Deuce Garrett was named the leagueâs Utility Player of the Year.
After starting the season with two cancelled games (vs. High Island and Somerville), Cushing won its first three games and five of its first six, while recording shutouts in each win and winning those games by an average of 48.2 points. The Bearkatsâ lone loss in its first six games was to West Sabine, 29-14.
