Ohio soldier who died in Korean War comes home

Cpl. Charles Eugene Hiltibran, reported missing in action in December of 1950 and whose remains were identified 70 years later, was warmly welcomed back to his home of Champaign County during Memorial Day weekend.

U.S. Army Pfc. Chauncey (William) J. Sharp was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was reported killed in action July 24, 1950, at age 18, after his unit sustained heavy casualties while defending against the North Korean army s advance near Hwanggon, South Korea.

Volunteers lay wreaths for service members at Dayton National Cemetery

The event is an expansion of the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The tradition began in 1992 with a goal of placing a wreath on every veteran's grave at Arlington. It's since grown to include more than 2,500 locations.
