A bill approved unanimously by the Senate on Wednesday would change that, correcting a wrong.
Sponsored by Dayton-area State Sen. Steve Huffman, R-Tipp City, and Nathan Manning, R-North Ridgeville, the bill is designed to help victims of homicide, sexual assault, and other crimes. It next goes to the House. Those who have experienced severe trauma from violent crimes, such as those impacted by Dayton s Oregon District shooting in 2019, deserve our help and support as they grapple with those unimaginable events, Huffman said in a statement sent after the Senate vote. Their pain still weighs heavily on my heart, and it is my hope that this legislation will aid them in their recovery.”
