Part of the redacting is meant to not give credence to individuals who have done terrorist acts in the past. Were not going to propagate their violent rhetoric and see no value in putting the names out there. The pressure to release the full version started to build and came up at the white house briefing. The decision about the release of the transcripts is one that was made solely by the department of justice and the fbi officials. Theyre doing that consistent with their assessment. The best way to advance the investigation, and so the question about the transcripts refer to them. By this afternoon the fbi and Justice Department issued a statement about why they had reversed course. It reads in part, quote
