Amy Burow honoured at age 101 for contribution to athletics on Australia Day26/01/2021|6min
Member of the Order of Australia Amy Burow says her “marvellous” Australia Day award for her contribution to athletics means “everything” to her, but told Sky News club competition has lost its spirit.
Ms Burow was recognised in the 2021 Australia Day Honours List for her support for woman and junior sportspeople, as well as her longstanding contributions to athletics.
One of her major achievements in sport was serving as the inaugural director of Athletics Victoria in 1982.
Ms Burow said the sport was better in her youth because “there was more sense in athletics in those days, there’s none today”.
