TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - With Valentineâs Day just around the corner, the National Fire Protection Agency is encouraging people to be extra careful when using candles during a romantic evening.
According to NFPA data from 2014 to 2018, fire departments in the United States responded to an average of 7,600 home fires started by candles each year.
âCandles bring a warm glow to the room that can make an occasion like Valentineâs Day feel even more special, but they do present fire risks and need to be used with caution,â said Lorraine Carli, vice president of Outreach and Advocacy at NFPA.
