updates here in dawson springs. we were told, updated the last hour that the death toll is now 13, up from 10 when we spoke with you last night. two bodies pulled out of the rubble here in the dawson springs area. today we saw search and rescue teams nearly 140 people involved in the search and rescue with canine units pouring over the landscape here of this area that has just been so decimated by these storms. we were also told by county officials it s looking like it will now take weeks for the electricity to be fully restored across the city. but right now, the most urgent and pressing issue people are dealing with is trying to piece together and collect as many of their personal belongings as they can. they re also kind of coming to terms with the brush with death that so many people here in this
extremely effective. we ve already seen several stories come out of the mayfield and dawson springs area, where people basically tied themselves to pipes and things like that in their basements to survive, and kind of stay attached to their foundations. so i m sure that we will see some uplifting stories during that time. governor andy basheer reported this morning that they are going to have to search the entire debris field in western kentucky for some of these and accounted for, but it does need to be noted that cell phone service is quickly returning, and as communication start to develop over the next few days, people may be located, as time goes on. now it s time for a look at the weather, with darren bett. it is likely to be chilly and lying
we re so thankful for other communities in kentucky and in other states, rallying with us, and we greatly appreciate everybody s prayers. that s what we need. at the moment, we re hoping for miracles, whether it s in that candle factory or other places. just in my dad s hometown of dawson springs, about 2,700 people, the unaccounted for was about eight pages single-spaced. it s really rough region by region, but especially down in the mayfield/hopkins county/dawson springs area. you know, a lot of times when there s a bad tornado hit like this, you can counted on some neighboring states to chip in, but this is such a wide swath, i m curious, how many more resources do you need? do you need more folks to come in, whether it s folks to turn the power on, clear debris? again, the surrounding your neighboring states are also
