KLCC s Brian Bull reports on five new units available for unhoused people discharged from hospitals and ERs.
Through a partnership between St. Vincent de Paul and Peacehealth, five Pallet shelters have been specifically set up at the Dawn to Dawn site off of Highway 99 North. The small structures were built with a $74,000 grant from the health organization. The purchase of the shelters themselves were paid for by Lane County through the federal CARES Act and made available (through a no-cost lease) to St. Vincents and other agencies that serve the unhoused population.
The interior of each 64-square-foot shelter includes lighting and heating, shelving and storage space beneath the bed.
is no surrender. i m going to be the biggest pain in the butt i can be. this dawn-to-dusk battle would test that resolve. the taliban studied how the americans responded to previous attacks. when the enemies weren t shooting at us, they were shooting at the weapons. so they were disabling the weapons. the insurgents know the outpost relies heavily on mortars, so they make the big guns their first target. killing private kevin thompson as he raises to his post. troops begin running much-needed ammunition to the men on guard duty. but casualties begin mounting. sergeant joshua kirk is killed while returning fire. you could hear the rounds coming in from every direction and it was just basically a hornet s nest. sergeant first class john hill sees more young soldiers taking enemy fire. michael skuza was gunned down
