The Community Foundation of Teton Valley is pleased to announce that Dan Verbeten, Executive Director of Teton Valley Trails & Pathways, has been honored with the 2023 Dawn Banks Nonprofit
The Teton County, Idaho, coronerâs office ruled her death a suicide.
Matkins, 42, was an East Idaho native who left a lasting impact on conservation in the region, first leading the Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust in Pocatello, then moving to Teton Valley in 2013 to work for and then direct the Teton Regional Land Trust.
She served on several nonprofit boards, including Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue, for which she also volunteered. In 2020, she received the Dawn Banks Nonprofit Leadership Award for her collaboration with other organizations on conservation projects.
When she wasnât watching sandhill cranes or inventorying land for conservation easements, she enjoyed mountain biking, boating and skiing.

DRIGGS Joselin Matkins, the executive director for the Teton Regional Land Trust in Driggs and a regional conservational leader died Friday, Teton County Sheriff deputies confirmed Saturday.
Matkins was found in the North Leigh Creek area north of Hatch’s Corner in Tetonia by Teton County Search and Rescue after she was reported missing late the same morning. She was missing for seven hours before she was found with the assistance of a Air Idaho Rescue helicopter flight team at 6:55 p.m.
Teton County Coroner Tim Melcher confirmed the cause of death was suicide.
