The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) and BNS Brasil (U 27) executed a passing exercise (PASSEX) in the Pacific Ocean, Dec. 15.
Brasil is a Brazilian training frigate with a crew size of approximately 450 personnel currently on their annual midshipmen training cruise (MTC). Upon completion of the MTC, the midshipmen will receive their commission as officers and will serve aboard ships and other military organizations in Brazil.
The PASSEX provided readiness-strengthening opportunities for U.S. and Brazilian forces and allowed for valuable ship handling training for William P. Lawrence and the soon-to-be commissioned officers aboard Brasil.
“Working with our Brazilian partners is always a valuable experience,” said Cmdr. Dawn Allen, commanding officer of William P. Lawrence. “Planning and executing maritime training strengthens our tactical readiness and practices operational command and control.”

warning. when the category of storms seem to go down, when it looked like the track was going to go further south, some people said they were going to stay. there s one gas station in town that said they would stop selling gas at 11:00. we saw a whole bunch of people get in line. we re watching this water now. all of this is only about 45 minutes worth of rain so far. this will pick up dramatically. there are some who said in wilmington this city could end up getting six, eight months of rain in three days. thank you. dawn allen has lived here in wilmington her entire life. dawn and her husband have two kids. you re not evacuating as i understand it, correct? that is correct. why? mainly it s financial reasons. people have offered us free places to stay but it still takes gas money, food, water, everything else when you get there and the fear of not knowing when you can get back
