DESOTO ENACTS WATER BILL RELIEF TO RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY WINTER STORM
At the Tuesday March 2, City Council meeting, Council approved a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to provide a Winter Water Infrastructure Preservation Credit to all City of DeSoto water and sewer utility bills. The purpose of the program is to support residents and businesses from unexpected high water charges due to increased water consumption during Texas’ Winter Storm.
During its February 23, City Council voted to unanimously to approve a resolution to waive all storm damage-related permit fees for home and business property repairs related to the winter storm. This includes waiving the standard fees for building inspections and fees associated with repairing damage caused by the weather. This relief is being provided through the end of April 2021.

Bates, a five-star Michigan State basketball commit, and Ypsilanti Prep Academy play Mikey Williams, a five-star sophomore with dozens of Division I offers, and Lake Norman (North Carolina) on Saturday in a clash between two of the best young scorers in the country. The matchup is part of the latest Battle Basketball Showcase, a two-game event scheduled for Saturday at Bob Jones University in South Carolina.
Williams is ranked the No. 1 combo guard in his class by both ESPN and 247Sports. His Lake Norman team had a seven-game winning streak snapped with its loss in conference play Tuesday to United Faith Christian. The Storm changed coaches after 8-2 start and have been led since mid-January by Patrick McCarthy on an interim basis.

If you’re in either of the Phase 1a or Phase 1b category for COVID-19 vaccination groups, and are on the “hunt for a vaccine”, you know the process can be frustrating and exhausting. Some have made calling to register for the COVID-19 vaccine a full-time job, spending hours signing up themselves or family members at multiple websites. In order to be successful, you need patience, persistence, a spreadsheet with websites/phone numbers, etc., and some luck.
And for many its become a bit of a “group project”, with friends and family members working together to share helpful information and tips on how and where to register. However, even after you’ve successfully scheduled an appointment, things can still go wrong. Today a gentleman with an appointment and QR code was turned away at Fair Park. According to him, when they asked if he was 65 or older, and
