Lewis Crofts, 30, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum prison term of 16 years and nine months for the fatal stabbing of Kimberley Deakin. Crofts repeatedly stabbed Ms Deakin, who he had been in a relationship with for a couple of months, at her address in Stoke-on-Trent in November last year. The defendant, of Lytchett Drive, Broadstone, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on May 4 after pleading guilty to murder at the same court last month.

Murderer Lewis Crofts is due to be sentenced this afternoon after stabbing a young mum to death.
The 30-year-old admitted killing Kimberley Deakin last month just days before his trial was due to be held at Stafford Crown Court.
But Crofts was later arrested in Northamptonshire and charged with Kimberley s murder.
Kim, of Leigh Street, was pronounced dead at the Royal Stoke University Hospital last November.
A post-mortem examination found Kim - who had given birth to baby Ava last summer - died from stab wounds.
Crofts, from Dorset, is due to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court from 3pm on Tuesday, May 4.

A “paranoid” killer who stabbed his girlfriend to death after working himself up into an “alcohol-fuelled fury” has been jailed for a minimum of 16 years and nine months.
Stafford Crown Court heard 29-year-old Kimberley Deakin was forced to scream to neighbours for help after being knifed in a “brutal” attack by her boyfriend Lewis Crofts on November 6 last year.
The court was told 30-year-old Crofts stabbed Ms Deakin to the face, neck and torso with a kitchen knife in the “near presence” of her baby daughter, who was either in the same room or an adjacent room.
