Judge David J. Barron has taken the reins as the 11th chief judge of the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, effective April 1. After working in academia for many years, Barron was appointed to the 1st Circuit by President Obama in 2014. He assumes the chief judgeship based on seniority and succeeds Judge Jeffrey .
