Cuyahoga County’s leadership vacuum is showing again

Three years ago, Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish faced no Democratic primary challengers and easily defeated a weak and underfunded Republican challenger. With evidence now overwhelming that Budish cannot lead this county effectively, that cannot happen next year when Budish could seek a third term. Now is the time for serious Democratic and Republican candidates to start building their support and campaign war chests to run for county executive.
The latest example of the Budish administration’s ineffective, unresponsive stewardship is its approach to vetting sheriff’s candidates in seeming denial of a new charter requirement.
