In December 2019, Jones’ son was driving her car and crashed into a guardrail near Gloria Miller Looking Glass Park while trying to avoid a dog in the road, less than half a mile from their home, according to the lawsuit.
Her son walked home and Jones sent him back with a phone, telling him to call a tow truck and the police.
While the boy returned home, Naert found the unoccupied vehicle and determined it belonged to Jones, according to court records, and told a dispatcher he thought the driver was likely drunk during the crash.
“Naert immediately formed an opinion, without any evidence in support, that Jones had been the driver of the crashed car,” according to the lawsuit. “He further decided that she had crashed the car while drunk.”
