Picture: FILE LIVIA Vilimaina, 19, and Mere Tinai, 16, were two very foot-sore and road-weary young trampers when they arrived in Suva after a week-long trek around Viti Levu. The story about the two young ladies, who were members of the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) in Suva, was published in The Fiji Times on May 18, 1968. It was Livia who was the first Fijian girl to win a Duke of Edinburgh Award when she won the Bronze Award for Adventure in 1967.
