Place North West | Place Capital adds trio to growing team

Dan Whelan The regeneration firm launched by former Placefirst directors David Smith-Milne and Peter Martin earlier this year has hired Faye Whiteoak as development director, one of three appointments at the fledgling firm.  Whiteoak spent four years as development director at Redrow Homes, leading the housebuilder’s strategic partnership with Liverpool City Council and Torus to deliver 1,500 new homes in Liverpool, before departing the firm in May 2019.  Since September 2019 she has worked part-time as an independent committee member at housing association Plus Dane Housing, a role she will continue in following her appointment at Place Capital Group.  “It is a testimony to the strength of our vision and business model, which is to transform forgotten former council estates into neighbourhoods of the future, that we are able to appoint someone of Faye’s quality, reputation and experience so soon after our launch,” Smith-Milne said.

Place North West | Place Capital adds to board

Dan Whelan The fledgling regeneration firm has appointed Karl Eddy and Scot Morrison as non-executive directors.  Eddy was most recently a senior partner at accountancy firm Grant Thornton before leaving in 2018, while Morrison is senior partner at law firm Pinsent Masons.   The pair have joined newly established Place Capital Group to advise on the company’s pipeline of projects, which will focus on the regeneration of ageing housing estates in partnership with social landlords. Morrison has experience advising public and private sector clients, including central government bodies such as Homes England and a variety of private developers, on structuring large-scale regeneration and urban development projects.

Place North West | Place Capital acquires consultancy Fourth Street

Sarah Townsend The estate regeneration specialist, set up last month by property veterans David Smith-Milne and Peter Martin, has acquired a boutique development consultancy as part of its ‘buy-and-build’ growth strategy. Place Capital Group snapped up Fourth Street Place Consultants for an undisclosed sum, it said this week. Fourth Street is a boutique advisory practice that works with local authorities and developers on place-led development strategies to unlock regeneration projects. Under the terms of the deal, Fourth Street will retain its brand and management structure and continue to serve its existing clients, which include the developer Delancey, Brighton and Hove councils, and the London boroughs of Camden, Croydon, Southwark and Waltham Forest.
