Liquid Instruments, a Solana Beach company that’s developed an 8-in-1 scientific measurement device that fits in a backpack, has raised $13.7 million in a Series B round of venture capital funding.
Founded in 2014 by a team of experimental physicists and engineers including former researchers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory Liquid Instruments makes gadgets that combine the functions of several common lab devices, each of which typically operates as a standalone , into one piece of equipment.
Its most recent product, called Moku:Go, delivers the functionality of an oscilloscope, constant temperature controller, logic analyzer, arbitrary waveform generator, data logger, spectrum analyzer and other tasks in one device.

Anzu Partners, San Diego’s fourth largest venture capital firm, has added a partner from the international investment banking sector.
William Strong, a former vice chairman and co-CEO for Asia Pacific Region at Morgan Stanley, has joined as a partner of Anzu Partners to spearhead strategic transactions.
Strong has advised clients in more than 25 countries involved in capital-raising transactions across all product classes as well as mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
“Anzu’s portfolio companies have the potential to transform the industries in which they operate and have a material positive impact on the environment, public health and much more,” said Strong. “I look forward to joining Anzu’s extraordinary team of professionals and helping accelerate the growth of these breakthrough technologies.”

TAMPA Anzu Partners announced William Strong, a former Morgan Stanley Vice Chairman and Co-CEO of the New York investment giant’s Asia Pacific region, has joined the company as a partner in Tampa.
In his new role, Strong will spearhead strategic transactions and join Anzu’s investment committee. He will be one of six partners at Anzu, which was founded in 2014 and today manages in excess of $400 million in capital, its website notes. The firm also recently announced it raised $420 million for a separate investment, a SPAC, or a special purpose acquisition company.
