Simba chips in South Africa recently launched their new Choose Me or Loose Me campaign inviting South Africans to vote for their favourite chips flavour to stay on the market. The flavour with the least votes will ultimately be discontinued forever in order to make room for new exciting flavours.
Simba to discontinue one of their principal flavours
As of March 2021, Pepsico, the mother company that makes both Simba Chips and Lays, decided to collaborate with their customers about which flavour to discontinue. Chips fans are being encouraged to put their money where their mouths are and buy the flavour they want to save. They will ultimately will have to choose between Salt & Vinegar, Cheese and Onion or Simba All Gold Tomato Sauce flavour.
Love Island South Africa has endured a difficult start to its run this weekend, after it was subject to a wave of ridicule online. As well as struggling with technical issues, the cast itself was called into question – with some comparing the majority of white contestants to the Afrikaner-only enclave of Orania.

Indeed, ‘Love Island Orania’ became the top trend on Twitter overnight, and remains there on Monday morning. The complaints raised on social media tackled a serious issue, but didn’t spare us a that typical dark-brand of SA humour:

JOHANNESBURG - South Africans on Thursday reeled after the news that Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu (62) passed away due to COVID-19.
Ten days ago, Mthembu was hospitalised after showing symptoms of the virus. He was the fourth member of the executive who tested positive in that week, along with Employment and Labour Deputy Minister Boitumelo Moloi, Water and Sanitation Deputy Minister David Mahlobo, as well as governance s Obed Bapela. The week before that, the police ministry announced its deputy minister, Cassel Mathale, had contracted COVID-19.
