SIR – Rounds of applause, standing ovations, multiple handshakes and statements such as “Nothing is off the table”, spoken in the euphoria of the moment, do not win wars.
SIR – Whatever the result of the Conservative leadership contest this coming week, the next prime minister needs to take account of the support and political stance of their main competitors.
