Place North West | Green light for Morecambe apartments

Neil Tague Lancaster City Council has approved the development of the £4.5m third and final phase of Placefirst’s West End project, bringing a further 42 apartments to the area. Architect MCAU has designed the Bold Street project, which includes one- and two-bedroom apartments at a brownfield site close to Morecambe’s promenade. West End Three will occupy half an acre previously occupied by a series of terraces and commercial premises. This final phase will see Placefirst start construction in 2021 and then let, maintain and manage the apartments ongoing as landlord for the scheme. David Mawson, chief executive for Placefirst commented: “We’ve worked collaboratively with Lancaster City Council for several years to help it deliver the continuing regeneration of the West End and Morecambe as a town. We’ve played a pivotal role in both changing the perception and the attractiveness of the area as a place to live, with Bold Street set to continue in the same vein.”

A MASSIVE new town centre residential development is set to transform the Deansgate area of Bolton town centre. The six-storey block with 145 homes and commercial space is planned for land bound by the River Croal, Ridgeway Gates and Brook Street to the East, Deansgate and Central Street. The intention by developers: Placefirst is also to create a new public square. Among the features in the potential development are a courtyard, roof gardens for some properties and a communal ‘yoga terrace’. Planning documents were lodged with Bolton Council earlier this month and a statement by Maddox planning on behalf of developers sets out their intentions.
