North Coast Repertory is first local theater to announce full indoor season

Print California will officially reopen for “business as usual” on June 15, but San Diego theaters have held back from announcing a return to indoor performances. But North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach which was one the first local theater companies to present a filmed theatrical production last June has unveiled a 40th anniversary season that will be produced entirely indoors beginning Sept. 8. The season will include seven full productions and an extra two short-term special engagements. Artistic director David Ellenstein said he’s confident the company will be able to return to full production by September, but just in case, the company’s first show will have just two actors. That allows the company to safely accommodate all social distancing requirements for performers and backstage crew and it reduces the company’s financial risk if audience capacity must be limited.

Developers break ground on 613MW Texas solar

Rosendin Renewable Energy Group and Tokyo Gas America have started construction of the 631MW Aktina solar farm in the US state of Texas. A total of 1.4 million solar modules will be installed across 1619 hectares in Wharton County, outside the Houston Metro area. Aktina will be brought online in stages starting in mid-2021, with electricity generated sold to the ERCOT wholesale market. It is scheduled to be fully operational in the first half of next year. Rosendin has hired 500 employees and union contractors with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to build the solar farm. The team is currently comprised of over 30% women, it said.
