He gave an introduction about myself, but as he said, my name is deanne. Much like many of our panelists today am an engineer. Unlike most of our panelists today, i have never been to space. Which gives you an idea of the impressiveness next to me. But i did grow up in brevard county, florida, and Cape Canaveral, and i have watched many of you launch to space, and it has been an inspiration in my life and one of the reasons that i chose to pursue engineering. Ive gone on to have a bit of an atypical career. Im an engineering tv host nowadays, and also founder and ceo of future engineers and we actually have a current challenge that was launched with nasa where students can name the next mars rover, so i dont know if youchb you know but the mars curiosity rover was named by a kindergarten through 12 student. In the time since we graduated many walkways and buildings had been retrofitted to better accommodate people in wheelchairs. Back in 1990 student protesters had shut the school down for days making demands for such things like hiring a rabbi, offering kosher meals, establishing an intercultural center. Thosedemands at the time had seemed so radical. Today they seemed so reasonable as to be a matter of course. Oh, the irrelevance. The obsolescence. The creeping amount of aging before you even get old. The phantom of time haunted me as i drove back to the city in my station wagon. It followed me back to my apartment where i poured myself a glass of wine and was in bed by 10. In theensuing year the feeling of irrelevance became a near constant companion. It clouded my vision like the membrane on an eye of a lizard , shielding me from what i couldnt comprehend, staring me the mortification of my own cluelessness and it had me staring at myself in mirrors and avoiding mirrors. the national news. as luck would have it, we brought you the story for the first time a week ago at this time. it s a story out of new mexico. just tonight as we are getting on the air, there is a major development in that story tonight and it is a shocking one. i imagine given these new developments in the story, this will not be the only place you will be hearing about this over the next several days. all right, what we were able to tell you last week is news of a spate of recent shootings that had targeted the homes and offices of at least a half dozen elected officials in new mexico, all of them members of the democratic party. no one was injured in these shootings. these shootings hit buildings, not people. but they apparently had all been targeted at democratic politicians during december and january. so just over the last few weeks. we first learned of the shootings at five homes and offices belonging to some county commissioners and two state senators and new mexico s
