The effects of the latest atmospheric river to pour through Monterey County continued to be felt Monday as rain continued to pelt the region and people were still without power after high winds over the weekend felled trees and power lines, leaving nearly 30,000 customers without power, but better weather is in the offing.

“Wednesday and Thursday are the days to be prepared for,” said Nicole Sarment, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Bay Area headquartered in Monterey. “As we get further into winter the air is more saturated so it will be rainy. It’s going to be windy too, leading to potential downed trees and power lines.”
