Google Pixel 5a processor likely to be same as Pixel 5

Credit: David Imel / Android Authority Code within the latest Android 12 DP 3 suggests that the Google Pixel 5a processor could be the Snapdragon 765G. Notably, this is the same processor within the Google Pixel 5. This isn’t a sure deal, but it would make a lot of sense with the rumors surrounding “Whitechapel.” We know for certain that a new “a” series Pixel is on the way, to be known as the Google Pixel 5a 5G. However, other than the fact that it exists and looks a lot like the Pixel 4a 5G, we don’t know much else. That may have changed today. Thanks to some Android 12 DP 3 code sleuthing from

4G-only Samsung Galaxy S20 FE getting a Snapdragon refresh

The 4G-only Samsung Galaxy S20 FE will be updated with a Snapdragon 865 processor in some regions. Currently, LTE-only variants of the phone have the Exynos 990 chip, which is objectively inferior to the Snapdragon 865. So far, it is unclear which global regions would see this change, but it is confirmed for Scandinavian countries for now. When it launched, there were two versions of the “Fan Edition” of the Galaxy S20: a 4G-only version and a version with 5G capabilities. The 5G version came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor while the LTE-only variant came with Samsung’s homegrown Exynos 990 chip. Although the phones looked very much the same, the Exynos chip is definitively weaker than the Qualcomm one. This resulted in not only limited mobile networking capabilities but also performance deficiencies between the two models.

Report: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 2 expected to debut in July

Samsung will launch two foldable phones later this year, according to a report from Korea. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 are expected to debut in July. According to a report by The Elec, the company is set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 as early as July. We can also expect design changes to the display and battery of the larger foldable. The report quotes a drop in battery capacity to 4,380mAh the same capacity as the original Galaxy Fold. As for the display, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 might see less real estate than its predecessor. The folding screen reportedly measures 7.5 inches, while the outer screen comes in at 6.2 inches. A refresh rate bump could be on the cards, though.

Samsung reportedly working on sensor shift tech for future smartphones

Samsung may introduce sensor-shift image stabilization to its future smartphones, according to a new report. The technology compensates for jitters to the image sensor itself, decreasing blur when a shot is taken. Apple first introduced the technology to its iPhone 12 Pro Max’s wide-angle camera. Smartphone makers are always looking to minimize vibrations to improve camera image quality. The likes of Samsung have previously used optical image stabilization (OIS) to tackle this issue. Now, the Korean company is considering using another method, namely sensor-shift stabilization, according to a report by Unlike OIS, which compensates for jitters that may directly affect the camera lens, sensor-shift stabilizes the
