Print article Parler, a social network embraced by right-wing groups, lobbed a new lawsuit against Amazon in King County Superior Court, two weeks after Parler’s relaunch rendered moot its original accusation in federal court that Amazon had effectively killed its business. The move, Amazon attorneys said in a filing Wednesday kicking the suit back to federal court, is “an extreme attempt to forum shop.” After a federal judge last month denied Parler’s request that she force Amazon to reconnect the social network to its cloud-computing services, Parler, Amazon contends, is seeking a new hearing before a new judge in “a transparent effort to evade this Court’s dim view of the merits of Parler’s claims. But Parler’s scheme is futile.”

It was a roller coaster of activity for Parler, a 2-year-old magnet for the far right that welcomed a surge of new users. It became the No. 1 free app on iPhones late last week after Facebook, Twitter and other mainstream social media platforms silenced President Donald Trump’s accounts over comments that seemed to incite Wednesday’s violent insurrection.
The wave of Trump followers flocking to the service was short-lived. Google yanked Parler’s smartphone app from its app store Friday for allowing postings that seek to incite ongoing violence in the U.S.
Apple followed suit on Saturday after giving Parler a day to address complaints it was being used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities. But the death knell came from Amazon Web Services, the leading provider of cloud computing infrastructure, which informed Parler it would need to look for a new web-hosting service after Sunday.

The decision is a blow to Parler, an upstart that has won over Trump loyalists for its relatively hands-off approach to moderating content. The company sued Amazon over its ban, demanding reinstatement.
