The chief of the General Staff of the Armenian military, General Artak Davtian, former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, and several other officials went on trial on fraud and embezzlement charges related to purchases of faulty weaponry and ammunition for the armed forces.
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has refused to divulge any information as to whether Artak Davtian, chief of the Armed Forces’ General Staff, has been indicted as part of an investigation conducted into allegations that low-quality missiles have been supplied to the army.
