VANCOUVER Heading into a new season, Vancouver Whitecaps coach Marc Dos Santos is frustrated.
Just days before the Whitecaps are set to kick off their Major League Soccer campaign, he has yet to hold a training session with his full squad.
National duty, visa issues and quarantine have kept several players from joining training camp at the club s temporary home in Sandy, Utah.
“My frustration is not having everyone here, together, working together. That’s frustrating as a coach, Dos Santos said. But it’s things we have to deal with.
Every player who s been in training is ready to compete, he said, and there s a sense of excitement and anticipation about who s yet to come.

Spring is in full swing, and while the situation in British Columbia becomes more complicated by the moment, it seems (unlike last year), that the Vancouver Whitecaps have picked a perfect time to head south.
The Whitecaps begin their pre-season later today, and the regular season is only a few weeks away. Needless to say, things are getting serious. With that in mind, I’m going to empty my notebook with any and all of the musings I had from the Vancouver Whitecaps’ final week of training camp in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have bolstered their backline with the signing of Angolan international right back Bruno Gaspar. Gaspar, 27, joins from Portuguese giants Sporting CP on a loan deal with the option to buy.
Career Summary:
Gaspar began his career with Benfica but moved to Vitória Guimarães before making an appearance for their first team. With Vitória Gaspar established himself as a regular starter, making 80 first team appearances. He was then signed by Fiorentina for a 4.4 million transfer fee. He played one season for Fiorentina, making 17 appearances, before moving back to Portugal to sign with Sporting. He was a rotational option for Sporting, making 30 appearances in 18/19, and was then loaned to Olympiakos of the Greek Super League the following season.
