The Wadena City Council and interim City Administrator Dave Evans hope to see applications pouring since the Wadena City Administrator position was Monday, May 24.
Gary Weiers, a service team lead at David Drown Associates presented the board with the next steps in the recruitment process for the next city administrator during a special city council meeting Thursday, May 20. DDA was selected to help the city hire the next administrator as they do work in executive recruitment.
Candidates have four weeks, or until June 21, to submit their applications.
Weiers primarily wanted council members to review the job description and what the community had to offer. They made suggestions about the elementary school being remodeled, a new hospital being built and a new Hwy 10 freshly completed in town as attractive features.

Mike Bestul will be the next Brainerd police chief, following his appointment of acting chief.
Bestul, a 24-year veteran of the police department, stepped up as acting chief in January after the retirement of Chief Corky McQuiston. The Brainerd City Council offered him the permanent position Monday, May 3, conditional on the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and a 90-day trial period.
“I’m very excited to lead the department going forward and looking forward to a brand new adventure, if you will,” Bestul said after Monday’s meeting.

ST. PETER Nicollet County commissioners unanimously approved a separation agreement with human resources director/assistant county administrator Jamie Haefner Tuesday.
Action came without discussion on a motion by Commissioner Marie Dranttel, seconded by Commissioner Jack Kolars.
On April 2, commissioners accepted Haefner’s resignation. Under the agreement, in exchange for the release of claims, the County shall pay Haefner her regular salary at her final rate of pay, dental, and health insurance contributions through June 25, beginning the pay period after her right to rescind her release of all claims expires.
Haefner is deemed to have elected COBRA coverage effective April 2. No additional leave benefits shall accrue following her March 25 resignation date.
