CAPE PORPOISE, Maine – Christmas came early for the Harmons.
A few days before the holiday last month, Habitat for Humanity York County informed them that they had been selected to live in the new home the organization was building in Cape Porpoise.
“We definitely viewed it as a miracle,” said Derek Harmon, currently of Sanford. “It was the best Christmas present we could ever get.
Harmon said his wife, Alicia, cried with joy when they got the news. Their older son, Gaberiel, 9, was so over-the-moon he stepped backwards, as though to create space to absorb the news, and ended up stumbling over some toys. Their younger son, Grayson, 3, started jumping up and down with joy.
