Brooklyn: Department of Correction Commissioner Louis Molina and his sidekick, Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association President Benny Bosco, have spent the past year and longer insisting I mean insisting that the contraband, a.k.a. drugs and weapons, that find their way onto Rikers Island do so because visitors and family either sneak them in on the visiting floor or via packages and mail.
Staten Island: So now the MTA is looking to put privately hired security guards by turnstiles to prevent fare evasion in the subways. I’ve heard many stories to this effect, yet none of them have mentioned fare evasion that takes place on its buses.
Centerport, L.I.: The results of the free and fair election are tallied. Not all true Republicans won. Election deniers, or the Party of Trump, won some government leadership positions. It could be a warning of more truth-bending conspiracies in the future.
Lackawaxen, Pa.: Blessed is opinionator Evan D. Morris (“An alum’s lament,” op-ed, April 24) for the purity of his belief in academic freedom so strong, in fact, that he is willing to “starve the beast” (in this instance, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his alma mater) which threatens to still any voice, even if objectionable, on campus.
