WOONSOCKET – The state’s COVID-19 vaccination effort saw a rapid acceleration last week when dozens of local and state-run vaccine sites opened their doors to seniors for the first time. Last Thursday, Feb. 18, Woonsocket and North Smithfield held the first of eight scheduled vaccine clinics at the former Monsignor Gadoury School on Park Avenue. North Smithfield Fire and Rescue Chief David Chartier said everything went smoothly, with volunteers assisting efforts and participants adhering to their appointments. “It’s been going excellent. Everybody’s been adhering to their appointments, it’s been a pretty steady flow since 9:45,” he said on Thursday afternoon.
